Top 5 Yorkshire Walks to Improve Foot Health

Apr 22, 2025

The benefits of walking for our physical well-being and mental health are continuously promoted; however, what is less well known is the benefits of walking to improve our foot health.

Helping to strengthen foot muscles, improve foot structure, our overall posture, and more, walking can help you with your everyday fitness and keep your feet healthy too.

And, what better place to walk and take in the stunning sights of the countryside than the Yorkshire Dales.

From a range of different hiking routes, parklands, and meadows to stroll around, as well as idyllic woodlands and exquisite coastlines, you can have great panoramic views from every direction.

In this post, we look at our 5 top walks in and around Yorkshire, and of course, if you need Yorkshire swift verruca treatment, look no further than our specialist podiatrists, who are on hand and ready to help your walking trails to be more comfortable.

Top walks in Yorkshire

1. Nostell Obelisk

An incredibly enjoyable and peaceful countryside walk, Nostell Obelisk is a vast parkland showcasing various habitats situated in ancient woodland and wildflower meadows that bring colour and smells alive during certain months.

A 2 mile ramble, which is also dog friendly and accessible for wheelchairs, prams, and mobility scooters, take this opportunity to visit the Obelisk Lodge, stroll through the meadows, stop for a picnic at the Hardwick Beck area, cross over the Boathouse Bridge, and finish at the Nostell Georgian House and landscaped gardens.

2. Whernside via Ribblehead Viaduct

With legendary peaks leading to Whernside mountain, one of the three Yorkshire Peaks, Whernside is the largest in the National Park.

Standing at a tall 736 metres high, once you reach the top, the views will, quite literally, take your breath away. However, make sure you have everything you need to help you reach the top: snacks, drinks, and healthy feet that can help you climb your way there – if you’re struggling with a little foot pain, check out our Yorkshire microwave verruca treatment.

Important to mention is that Whernside is also close to the Ribblehead Viaduct, a renowned railway bridge whose historic structure is significant (and looks great in pictures).

3. Gaddings Dam

Reported as the highest beach in England, Gaddings Dam, also known as Todmorden Beach, is a long left reservoir that has turned into an extremely popular wild swimming spot. Sitting on the Yorkshire Moors at 80 feet above sea level and 60 miles inland take the time to get lost in your thoughts and thoroughly enjoy your time here.

Note: this walk does involve quite an incline, so make sure you have good walking shoes ready.

4. Marsden Moor heritage trail south

An 8 mile circular walk that takes you through some of the best moorlands Yorkshire has to offer, Marsden Moor provides hikers with incredible views for miles around.

Spot wild animals, take in the sights and smells of the moorland plant life, and breathe in the history of the area.

From reservoirs, dams, bridleways, quarries, and more, make sure you pack all of your hiking essentials to tackle this terrain and enjoy the ramble.

5. Druids Temple

Druids Temple is a walk that leads to something very different and unique. A striking stone formation that sits within woodlands and offers numerous walking trails around the grounds of the Swinton Estate.

Of course, this temple is not an actual Druid structure as it wasn’t created until the 1800s by William Danby, the owner of the Swinton Estate; however, this temple still has its fair share of urban legends.

With a 5-mile circular walking loop around the estate, you can also pass through other listed buildings on the grounds.

As an extra option for walking in Yorkshire (because five is never enough), we also have to mention Brimham rocks. A rock formation that offers a circular trail with panoramic views and expansive heather moorland.

Kin Body and Sole

We know that a verruca on the soles of your feet can be painful, especially when walking, and as we begin to unravel and understand the benefits of walking more, we’re pleased to promote our range of Yorkshire verruca removal treatments.

If you think you have a verruca, you may experience more pain when you put pressure on your feet when you walk as you push the verruca deeper into your skin. To help prevent the spread (verrucae can be highly contagious), we would avoid going places barefoot until Yorkshire swift treatment is complete and the infection no longer exists.

We hope this guide provides you with a little further insight into popular walks around Yorkshire and if you need Yorkshire Verruca and wart treatment, book your appointment today.
